An own-label made-to-order range for retailers

Your own label Nothing bought up front Made in the size ordered Production 7–10 business days

The entry problem

Every season starts with a bet.

You carry the same brands as everyone else

Customers can find the same labels in the next store, or online for less. Nothing on the racks gives them a reason to buy from you.

Your buying budget is spent months before the season

The money is committed on a forecast long before anyone walks in. When something starts to move, there is nothing left to chase it with.

The popular sizes sell out and the rest get marked down

A style with missing sizes stops selling, and what is left goes on sale to clear the rack.

The correction

Read it first, then make it.

Your own label

Carry something no one else can.

An own-label range made for your store, designed with Daniel Avakian and the studio or built from the cloths, cuts and finishes on offer. It is made to order, so a new label costs nothing to carry.

Customers come in for the pieces they cannot get anywhere else.

Nothing bought up front

Test a capsule before you commit.

Put a small range live with nothing bought. Real orders show which pieces customers want, and only those get made again.

The buying budget stays free for the season. You can react to what is selling now.

Sized to order

Offer more sizes without stocking them.

Each piece is made in the size ordered, and a wider size range can be offered where the product category supports it.

There are no broken size runs and nothing left to clear. Full price stays full price.

The end-to-end ecosystem

From concept to the customer's door.

Most retailers building own label pull together a designer, a factory, a warehouse and an agency, before they add photographers and the rest. Holding them all together costs you margin, and it takes time away from the store. DAKUTX offers the full ecosystem. You keep your customers, use only the parts you need, and add more as you scale.

The offer

Add an agreed made-to-order range to your retail business.

DAKUTX works with boutiques, showrooms and ateliers to offer selected products through an agreed ordering, measurement and production process. Your proposal defines the range, customer journey, commercial responsibilities and service scope before launch.

What your proposal covers

Approved product range and available customisation. Store locations, authorised users and ordering roles. Measurement guidance and handling of fit questions. Production pricing, fulfilment responsibilities and order reporting. The legal seller, payment flow, customer support and consumer-remedy responsibilities.

Platform fee
From A$1,499 per month + GST

Onboarding begins after the agreement is signed and the agreed onboarding fee is paid. Monthly platform billing starts only when the agreed vendor storefront is live and launched. Approximately eight weeks from signing is a planning estimate, subject to the agreed scope, required materials and approvals. Your proposal itemises every charge, and the total depends on your scope.

Before you ask

What it costs

Your proposal separates setup, monthly services, samples, garment orders, freight and additional work. Exclusive styles and custom integrations are included only where expressly agreed. Made-to-order production does not mean the retail program is free to operate.

Wholesale or direct

Both. Pieces can ship direct to a customer or into your own fulfilment, in your packaging either way.

Where it is made

Production is undertaken through DAKUTX’s approved manufacturing network, with core production currently based in China.

Who makes it

DAKUTX works with approved production partners selected for relevant manufacturing capability and quality requirements.

Who owns the range

You do. Your designs, your specifications and your customers, and nothing is made for another retailer.

If it is wrong

If a garment is produced incorrectly or materially outside the confirmed order specifications, DAKUTX will work to correct the issue, including remake where appropriate. Issues arising from incorrect measurements supplied, subsequent measurement changes or preference changes may incur additional charges. Nothing in this policy limits rights available under applicable consumer law.

The DAKUTX process

Six steps, start to doorstep.

01

Start with a call

What you want to test and what your margins need to be. We work out whether this fits before anything is made.

02

Read the proposal

You get the scope in writing. It sets out the range, what is included, what is charged separately and who does each step.

03

Sign it

Onboarding starts once you sign. Nothing begins before that.

04

Pick the capsule

A small range, chosen on judgement rather than on what you can afford to commit to.

05

Launch and read

It goes live with nothing bought. Real orders tell you which lines have demand.

06

Scale what sells

Only the proven lines scale, made to order and shipped direct in your packaging.

How it started

Our story.

DAKUTX is founded and led by Daniel Avakian, one of Australia’s leading fashion designers. He trained in Florence, worked in London under Alexander McQueen and Giles Deacon, and has run his own label out of Sydney since 2007.

Two decades of running that label hit the same wall every season, and the wall was the minimum order. So he spent several years building the production system underneath it.

Daniel and his team of pattern engineers and production managers run the making, with DAKUTX’s approved manufacturing network behind them. Brand and marketing people work alongside the retailers who want that.

Design is part of it if you want it. We can make to your specification or design the range with you, and nothing is made for another retailer.

Start with a call.

One call to work out what you actually need. For some retailers that is a full own-label programme. For others it is one capsule, launched with nothing bought, to read the demand.
